Smooth scrolling

Dear all,

I am running KDE 3.4 on SuSE 9.1 and KUbuntu. In both cases, several apps 
(including konqueror and kmail) now feature smooth scrolling by default. For 
me, this is perceptually very discomforting. Is there a way to disable this 
feature?
