The problem is in your scripts which are badly written if they are meant to run in a linux environment. There can be no logical reason why you cant eliminate the double tabs since you say they are only used for indenting. It is for this very reason that almost all IDE's (Integrated Development Environment) or advanced text editor give you the option to replace the tabs with spaces. So why dont you stop being pedantic and simply open the scripts in kate and then save them again so the tabs will convert to spaces?
