All, Thanks for the input, but (unfortunately) we're talking about 2 different functionalities. What I'm "jonesing" for is the ability to split the window into 2 or more separate windows, like you can still do in Konqueror with Ctrl+L or Ctrl+T (and, as an experiment has just shown me, still do it in Kate, although it is not documented....).
