I used to have my buttons (in my case: Back, Forward, Up, Home, Reload and Stop) in the same row as my location-toolbar was. The buttons were on the left, and the location-toolbar was on the right. I just noticed that for some reason, the toolbars were separated on separate rows (which didn't look that nice). After a bit of struggling, I managed to get them on the same row again. But I noticed that if I reduce the horizontal-size of Konqueror even by a just a small amount, the toolbars get bumbed back to separate rows. IIRC, it didn't do that before. It's somewhat frustrating, espesially since the location-toolbar has lots of empty space that could be reduced instead of bumbing the whole toolbar to a new row.

Is there a way to lock the toolbars in the same row? Like I said, I think my Konqueror used to keep the toolbars in their place, even if I reduce the horizontal size of the Konqueror-window.

You can't lock them in the same row.

In general, the location toolbar and the icons that go to the end of the toolbar don't seem to be very cooperative.

If you want the buttons like Firefox:

I suggest that you configure the location toolbar like I have.
