Hi, I am forwarding this discussion to the OOo discuss list, because of course it is very interesting to us as well. ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: The Integrated Desktop Date: Tuesday 07 December 2004 15:11 From: Iain Dooley <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: kde@xxxxxxxxxxxx KDE is an amazing desktop environment, but of the applications that i use most, none of the packaged KDE programs are really the best of breed. KOffice < OpenOffice KMail < Thunderbird Konquerer < Firefox Noatun < Juk Kopete < gaim One that i really do use a lot is Kate, i think it's a great app, and i love it's integration with KGet and fish. but instead of building it's own web browser, and it's own mail client, why doesn't KDE focus on integrating more thouroughly these other fantastic, open source applications? It seems one of the most powerful things that KDE could provide, as a desktop environment, would be the integration between the biggest and best open source programs in the world into the biggest and best desktop environment in the world. imagine what could be achieved if KDE, OpenOffice and the Mozilla project joined forces... cheers iain ___________________________________________________ .
