I just upgraded to kde 3.2.2 and i no longer have the "Edit File Type" menu entry.
Is this an installation problem or a new feature?
It's a feature.
Open the properties. On the General tab, there is a button right of field "Type". Click on this button and you can edit the file type.
IMHO it's a good idea to remove "Edit File Type" from the context menu of each single file.
