I've seen no other messages indicating that anybody else has had a similar problem. I've since done an strace -f on it, and it appears to request something from cups but doesn't get a response so the alarm timer kills it. IIRC there is a segfault message above that too. Whatever segfaults, it doesn't effect cups in any way. And, I didn't know there was a kde-print list. I'll go see if I can find it and get subbed.
