TTF Fonts in KDE

I am using KDE 3.2.2 on RHEL3

I have added <dir>/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF</dir> to
/etc/fonts/local.conf. In the TTF dir I have put the MS web fonts. Then
I Ran 'fc-cache -vf' as root.

...
fc-cache: "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF": caching, 121 fonts, 0 dirs
...
fc-cache: succeeded

Nick-> fc-list | grep Tahoma
Tahoma:style=Regular
Tahoma:style=Bold

So the fonts appear to be there, but KDE falls back to some default font
when I select that font. Same for may others and I have had to fall back
to some ugly looking fonts in order to get AA to work.

Is there something I have missed when installing the fonts? How can I
get KDE to use them?

Thanks,
Nick
