what would cause kdm not to restart after ending a session with kde
I started It with the -daemon and the -nodaemon and no difference. When I kill X everything dies except kdm. I'm by virtual console F1. When I do ps -ax, I get "/usr/bin/kdm -nodaemon". When I kill it, "killall kdm" kdm restarts
Why doesn't kdm restart after kde exits. It does restart after gnome exits.
I've also used the orignal kdmrc file but it didn't make a difference. Is there another config file that can cause this problem.
In your: "/etc/inittab" file look at the last line. For example:
# Run xdm in runlevel 5 x:5:once:/etc/X11/Xstart
If it says: 'respawn' change it to 'once'.
