Fonts rendering HAS changed: now I need to enable antialiasing and exclude 7pt - 22pt range to avoid overcharged police rendering on my laptop screen.
I think that you might have "Use sub-pixel hinting" set incorrectly.
You screen shot has sub-pixel rendering.
