kdesktop - how to increase number of possible virtual desktops ?

The KDE-3.2.0 betas had possibility of max. 20 virtual desktops while 
KDE-3.2.0 has only 16. Is there an easy way to increase the max. number 
and rebuild kdesktop, like simply redefining a constant ? (I would take 
also a little more complicated way, just appoint me to).
