I have the 'Enable the Sound System" unchecked. However, I notice that artsd is still running upon KDE startup. What is the purpose of the Sound system? and is there no way to disable artsd?
You can kill it:
killall artsd
and it won't cause any problems, but it might startup again if something thinks that it needs it.
