Is there some way to add applications to the global menu with KDE-3.2?
I read the new dox and it says nothing about this.
I think I saw a posting of a core developer saying it works as root.
If it doens't you'll have to manually copy the desktop files to the global applnk directory.
They were there. Actually, they were in:
$KDEDIR/share/applnk/Applications/
$KDEDIR/share/applnk/Applications/Corel WordPerfect/
but they show up in: "Lost & Found".
I tried moving them to the new directories
$KDEDIR/share/applications/
$KDEDIR/share/desktop-directories/
Didn't help :-(
So, I edited the file: "/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu" and it worked fine till I restarted KDE. Apparently the file is rebuilt when you start KDE.
If there is some documentation somewhere, I can probably figure it out if you would just point me to it.
IIUC, I can add a: "Categories" entry and it will work automatically. However WordPerfect is a subdirectory and I don't know how that works.
