Hi folks,

Debian

After starting the PC and login KDE as USER, it failed to start with following warnings

"view details (~/.xssession-errors file)"
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running : sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gm/ : 0 .xservers "-h "" -l : 0 user
+ wm=kde3
+ cp /dev/null /home/user.kde3-errors
+ chmod 600 /home/user/.kde3-errors
+ exec

# cat /gdm/PreSession/Default
....
echo "$0 : could not find the sessreg utility, cannot update wtmp and utmp"
exit 0

# cat /home/user/.kde3-errors
.....
+ echo "kde3: kde3 not found, Quiting"
kde3=kde3 not found. Quiting
+ exit

# ls -al /home/user/ | grep kde
-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 1119 Jan 13 10:40 .gtkrc-kde
drwx------ 4 user user 4096 Jan 13 13:40 .kde
-rw------- 1 user user 528 Jan 13 13:28 .kde3-errors
-rw------- 1 user user 490 Jan 1 01:21 .kderc

(.kde3 not found)

I have no idea how GDM (GNOME Display Manager) works except that it failed to find something named "kde3".

If you normally wish to run KDE, perhaps it would be better to use KDM.

Or, I would ask on a Debian list.
