I'm interested in an implementation of such features in KDE so in case I get time to code something where should I start? Changes should be in KDE source or X server? is someone doing something already?
If you are going to add it to KDE, you should add it as an additional option along with the current:
Cascade Windows Unclutter Windows
OTOH, if KP adds this to XFree86, it might be redundant.
Also you might consider if this should be integrated with the WindowList Special Button.
