Kate prints wide-spaced text?

I'm using Kate shipped with Redhat 9 (Kate 2.1, KDE 3.1-12). To print 
the same text file in VIM and Kate, you'd notice that VIM gives expected 
result, while Kate's output is very wide-spaced - each character is a 
mile away from each other (Okay I exagerated (This has nothing to do 
with what printer is used - you can observe the same problem in its 
preview mode). I'm wondering if other people are having the same problem 
and how you fix it?
