Educator Workshop – The InSight Mission: Entry, Descent and Landing on Mars

When: Saturday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Where: NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California

Target Audience: Teachers for grades K-12 and informal educators (museums, after-school programs, etc.)

Overview: InSight, NASA's latest Mars mission, is scheduled to make its entry, descent and landing (also known as "EDL") on the Red Planet on November 26. Based on the Phoenix Mars lander design, InSight is equipped with a heat-flow probe and seismometer to investigate the Red Planet's interior as well as give scientists a better understanding of the evolution of rocky planets.

Join us at JPL to hear from an entry, descent and landing engineer for the InSight Mars lander and discover ways to bring the mission into classrooms, museums and after-school programs.
