A Soldier Shares The Stars: New JPL Podcast

The phrase "stars and stripes" takes on a whole new meaning for U.S. Air Force Sgt. James Wallace, who holds star-watching parties with his military colleagues at his forward deployed location in southwest Asia.   Wallace is one of 470 JPL-trained Solar System Ambassadors who share the wonders of space and exploration with the public. All the other Ambassadors are in the United States  and Puerto Rico .

In a  new JPL podcast online at http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/indexPod.cfm , Wallace explains how star-watching helps his military colleagues put everything in perspective and feel more connected with their family back home, and with the world in general.

He became an Ambassador while in Alamogordo, New Mexico , but when he was sent overseas, Wallace decided to take his show on the road.  More information on the Solar System Ambassador program is online at http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/ambassador/
