NASA’s CloudSat Preps for Launch

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

NASA’s CloudSat mission, scheduled to launch Friday, Apr. 21, at 3:02 a.m. Pacific, will for the first time study clouds in three dimensions. This will allow scientists to study the role clouds play in regulating Earth’s weather and climate. The mission will also study how clouds affect our water supply.

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
successfully  went into orbit last month. Since then, the spacecraft has been gradually tweaking its orbit and taking test images of the red planet. Learn more about the mission and see more images on the orbiter home page.
