Hello,

now that thunderbird and fairemail/k9-mail work with XOAUTH2 (though I'm not sure it's universally supported or it's only an ad-hoc implementation for google's and/or microsoft's servers)

it seems that the parameters for oauth-2 authentication are hardcoded :-(

https://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/file/tip/mailnews/base/src/OAuth2Providers.sys.mjs

so even if I manage to find/configure a sasl plugin for oauth2, thunderbird wouldn't even try to authenticate unless it's one of the registered servers

[....]

I also found these forks that supposedly work with keycloack

https://github.com/atsushi0804/cyrus-sasl-xoauth2
https://github.com/oss-tsukuba/cyrus-sasl-xoauth2-idp

The first one was missing the code to read one of the parameters (the scope), but due to the hardcoded parameters in thunderbird adding the missing code is of no use.

Bye
