For the case you are using Debian:
Upgrade first to Debian 11 and read this bug:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1037346
They say you should upgrade to the backports version of Debian 11 first, because that contains the right patches. But version 3.2.6-2+deb11u2 in Debian-backports is replaced by a 3.6 version. I found version 3.2.6-2+deb11u2 here:

Scroll a bit down for the binaries.
In my opinion upgrading Cyrus is a horror...
