IMHO the good thing here is that the error above should just not happen
and most likely is the result of an error in the code.

To find out where exactly it fails, you may need to run gdb on the created
core file. If you search the list archives you may find info on how to do
this in your situation.

As an alternative you could try with a newer version of Cyrus imapd
because the bug may have been fixed meanwhile. Don't know if you have a
chance to test a newer version.
