Squatter with the squat backend might be broken, it certainly is not with the Xapian backend.
I am not sure if we even support the squat backend in 3.x. Ellie or Bron should know better. I don't plan to fix it by myself. If someone bothers to come up with a clean pull request, based on the workaround fix in the above issue or not, we could merge that in.
