No, there is a split. On CentOS6 [at least] /usr/sbin/saslauthd [the *service*] is provided as part of the cyrus-sasl package. The SASL plugin/library needed to *other services* to *USE* authentication via saslauthd is provided by the cyrus-sasl-plain package. Installing one does not, by dependency, install the other.
