Meaning of "Discarding" messages from sync_client?

Could anyone explain the meaning of lines like:

Mar 26 00:49:50 util6 sync_client[31645]: Discarding: 3082 000000000000000000000000 ()

I have literally millions of these in my maillog (occasionally with
flags between the parentheses and rarely other text in place of the
zeroes) and am wondering if it means that my replica is screwed
somehow. A search of the list archives didn't seem to turn up anything
except a thread about failing replication after an upgrade from 2.3.9 to
2.3.11 which doesn't seem related.

Both the master and the replica are running an admittedly old 2.3.7
straight from Centos 4 (so the guid stuff isn't available). I'm in the
process of getting another server going (because the master is beginning
to have hardware issues) and will almost certainly have further
questions, but at the moment I'd just like to make sure that my current
replica is OK before I begin to replicate everything to the new server.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
