In that case maybe Cyrus should do this itself?  Sounds like a candidate
for a fix.

I'm not sure. Right now it seems to me that Jeff's problem didn't have anything to do with that file. The problems we were having with it were years ago, back when we used Berkeley DB. We have since switched to skiplist and haven't had any trouble anymore.
