Ah... yes...
I changed the /etc/aliases file to redirect to the boxes I wanted, added a new router to the exim confiugration to accept local mail for those addresses and created mailboxes in cyrus for those users (and still reject mail for unknown users).

Sometimes the solution is just too obvious.

Even if you could do that, what is the justification? I think it would
lead to great confusion for admins. Isn't this something that would be
better handled at the MTA level with aliases?
