I began experiencing a problem recently due to the
spammers. It seems I routinely receive e-mails going to addresses
beginning with + (e.g. +._-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
This e-mail should get rejected as undeliverable.. however, it gets stuck
in my sendmail queue. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem. However, I’ve
noticed that when other (valid) e-mails get queued up for delivery, they will
NEVER be delivered. Sendmail routinely tries to resend messages in the
queue – but it seems that after it tries to deliver the +._-user@server e-mail, lmtp will fail for
all the other (valid) messages. I’m continuing to search the archives, but I’m coming
up empty handed so far. I’m running RHEL4 with their prepackaged
8.13.1 and Cyrus v2.2.12 An example of what I am
