A note for historical reference: monitor /var/log/messages to see who you are actually logging in as, it may not be who you think.
Thanks for the pointer.

I am trying to move a cyrus-imap server from a freebsd machine to a linux machine.
On the freebsd machine I have db4.2 and cyrus-imapd-2.2.8
On the linux machine I have db4.2 and cyrus-imapd-2.2.12
I copied the configdirectory and the partition-default. I copied the imapd.conf and cyrus.conf
I ensured the permissions are correct(chmod -R cyrus:mail $configdirectory $partition-default).
I connect to the server with cyradm and run "lm" and nothing returns.
In cyradm I run "cm user.timdau@$domain.net" and I get
"createmailbox: Permission denied"
Any ideas?
