Cyrus is not just "being picky" here. The IMAP RFC is very clear
about not accepting or transmitting the NUL character. See RFC 3501,
especially sections 4.3.1 ("8-bit and Binary Strings") and the first
several paragraphs of section 9 ("Formal Syntax").
