IMHO  thinking of risks and time SHOULD not affect our comment to IESG, the IESG now is asking for comments with this Last Call, why should we not give our real views or full reviews and comments.
IMHO it is a problem to feel that we can not comment fully, because we don't have time, which I think there is no need for long time, because the time frame is structured and is until 30 April and fixed and a decision will be made by IESG with consensus or without consensus.

I'm going to pop on my programmer/product hat and see if I can make an analogy.

Sometimes you are working on a new feature, or a brand new release of a product.  Sometimes you have an urgent bugfix or security fix.

When you're working on version 2 of the product, you look at the user stories and the architecture of the codebase and refactor as appropriate to provide the best product for the future.

When you're doing an urgent bugfix or security patch, you make the minimally invasive change possible.  You try to keep the diff minimal so it's easy to reason about.  You don't alter the whitespace to comply with the latest code style guide, you don't change APIs, and you most certainly don't try to shoehorn all the new features from version 2 into the security patch to version 1.

Back to the situation at hand.  The IESG is trying to apply an urgent patch to the NomCom process to deal with an emergent issue.  There are other known deficiencies in the process which are being worked on for version 2.  This is not the effort to produce version 2 - this is the effort to apply an emergency patch version 1 so it keeps working in the short term - which is why there's pushback at trying to pull version 2 considerations into it (like Michael's "Snark" today about it favouring those who can attend physically.  Yep - that's a designed in property of v1 - and it's not the task of this minimal patch to change that design).

Cheers,

Bron,
