I have never met the individuals involved in person, other than having once met my co-chair at an unrelated event some years before the working group was chartered. Aside from some video calls during the process, all the work was done via email. That worked because we were all very clear about goals and the people involved were broadly aligned on those goals. It wasn't free of controversy and drama, but it did work. Proof that this *can* work, but not strong evidence that this will work for every case.
