Yes, I'd say that would be highly unsual. It was predicted long ago. Steps were taken that had far more immediate effect than the effort to develop and deploy IPv6. The crisis has been averted, at least temporarily. I don't think the problem will be back up to anywhere near crisis-level any time in "the next several years". Ten years out, who knows? Maybe. However, even then, that will affect almost exclusively devices with *public* IP addresses. The gazillions of devices behind NATs may also need to speak IPv6 when connecting to the outside world, but will have little to no need to give up IPv4.
