Remember the thread several months ago about declaring FTP to be historic, because it isn’t secure enough for some purposes and folks wanted to label it as “not recommended,” or at least “not recommended for new protocols” or “by IETF.” Meanwhile, there are countless processes (many of which are embedded or otherwise closed systems) that use FTP every day with no problems or risk, because their use cases don’t require the added security.
