This past Sunday Mike Karels passed away while returning home from BSDCan. His obituary is now available on the funeral home website, and the Free BSD Foundation has a memorial page set up in his honor. I worked with Mike for several years at BSDi and Windriver, but knew him since the days he was at CSRG leading the BSD releases and the early days of the IETF.
