Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Jonathan B. Postel Service Award nominations are now open. The Internet Society presents the prestigious award to an individual or organization that, like Jon Postel, has made significant contributions in service to the Internet community. The award commemorates Jon Postel’s extraordinary stewardship in the course of his 30-year career in networking. The chosen candidate will be announced in August 2024. The winner will be awarded with a USD 20,000 honorarium and the signature crystal engraved globe.

Previous award winners include George Sadowky for helping enable the extension of the Internet to almost all developing countries, Onno Purbo for making the Internet more affordable in Indonesia’s rural areas, Alain Aina for building technical communities that help to spread the Internet across Africa, Steven Huter for fostering local Internet communities globally, and Kimberly Claffy for her contribution to Internet measurement.

Special emphasis is placed on candidates who have supported and enabled others in addition to their own contributions.

Please spread the word by sharing this with your networks.
