To answer the direct question: I believe there definitely are things that can and _should_ be done, but they are not in the area of discussions to resolve a situation, because this isn't a matter of a 'situation' in that sense. At the bottom of this is, I believe, a lack of an explicit requirement on the IETF Chair and LLC Director positions that candidates must have shown ability and inclination to care for the community. I believe the NomCom need that laid out as a permanent point to consider, in addition to the various domain-specific qualifications they have been and are considering for the various positions they fill. I believe the situation in which I've found myself would not have come to be if previous NomComs had put ability and inclination to care for the community as an important factor in selection of people who have roles that involve community care and community building. This includes the LLC Board, because of the outsize effect some of their decisions can have on contracts and agreements, for the secretariat and others. Please understand that I don't want domain knowledge to be ignored or played down; I want awareness of the community, what creates (and tears down) a community, and inclination to care for it to be included as a factor. And I think it requires explicit mention in relevant RFCs, either covering the NomCom's work or the individual positions where it's most needed. Regards, Henrik
