Commercial use didn't become a significant factor until 1994--until then the Internet was effectively ruled by the NSFNet backbone "no commercial use" policy. (There was certainly lots of porn on the internet before then, but not lots of money being made--most of the money-making porn was still on BBSs.) -dan
