In the wake of IPv4 exhaustion and deployment of IP address sharing
techniques, this document recommends that Internet-facing servers log
port number and accurate timestamps in addition to the incoming IP
address. This memo documents an Internet Best Current Practice.
This document is a product of the Internet Area Working Group Working Group of the IETF.
BCP: This document specifies an Internet Best Current Practices for the
Internet Community, and requests discussion and suggestions for
improvements. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
