Title : NAT Traversal for dSIP
Author(s) : E. Cooper, et al.
Filename : draft-matthews-p2psip-dsip-nat-traversal-00.txt
Pages : 22
Date : 2007-2-27
This document shows how the algorithm for resource registration and
lookup in a SIP-based peer-to-peer system can be implemented in the
presence of NATs. More precisely, this document show how this
algorithm can be generalized into a method of routing arbitrary SIP
requests through overlays, and how this approach can be used to set
up new connections between peers to use for additional SIP signaling.
The document uses SIP to signal new dSIP connections, and uses
Interactive Connectivity Establishment (ICE) to allow these
connections to be established through NATs.

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
