Title : Mobile Multi-path Transmission using SCTP
Author(s) : C. Huang, C. Tsai
Filename : draft-huang-tsai-mmp-sctp-00.txt
Pages : 18
Date : 2006-10-19
In this draft, MMP-SCTP (MMP: Mobile Multi-Path) is proposed to allow
a host to improve the transmission throughput in wireless mobile
networks using simultaneous multi-path transmission of Stream Control
Transmission Protocol. Relevant mobility issues of MMP-SCTP included
are: (1) data transmission modes and path selection, (2) multi-path
handover, and (3) location management. Two transmission modes of MMP-
SCTP, i.e., the "Data-duplicating Mode" and "Data-striping Mode", and
the switching mechanism, are designed to enhance transmission
throughput for different wireless link status. Since the transmission
paths used for MMP-SCTP may differ when an MMP-SCTP host moves, the
multi-path handover problem is defined, and a multi-path handover
mechanism for MMP-SCTP is proposed. Additionally, a location
management scheme is also designed in this draft to tackle the
locating of an MMP-SCTP host.

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
