Title : Extension of OSPF-MDR to Allow Option of Using MPRs
	Author(s)	: R. Ogier
	Filename	: draft-ogier-manet-ospf-mdr-ext-00.txt
	Pages : 8
	Date : 2006-1-17

This document describes an extension of OSPF-MDR which allows the
option of using multipoint relays (MPRs) to select the MANET
Designated Routers (MDRs), which form a CDS used for flooding LSAs.
This extension allows each router to decide independently whether or
not to select MPRs, so it provides additional flexibility without
having to specify OSPF-MDR so that it either requires or prohibits
MPRs. The use of MPRs in OSPF-MDR may provide some advantages (e.g.,
a CDS with a smaller stretch factor), although this may come with
some costs in terms of overhead and/or response time. Simulations
are planned to compare the performance of OSPF-MDR with and without
   MPRs.

Send a message to:

In the body type:

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
