The IAB is ready to ask the RFC-Editor to publish IAB Thoughts on the Role of the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) draft-iab-irtf-01.txt as an Informational RFC. The chief purpose of this document was to collect and record a set of considerations the IAB discussed in the process of reviewing the IRTF Chair position last year. As such, it is not suggesting process or structure changes at this time, and is primarily intended to capture IAB state. Comments are therefore most likely to be of the form of suggestions for improving clarity. The IAB solicits comments by December 14, 2005. Please send comments to the IAB (iab@iab.org), or to ietf@ietf.org. The document can be found at http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-iab-irtf-01.txt >From the Abstract: This document is an IAB (Internet Architecture Board) report on the role of the IRTF (Internet Research Task Force), both on its own and in relationsip to the IETF. This document evolved from a discussion within the IAB as part of a process of appointing a new chair of the IRTF.
