The IESG contact persons are Sam Hartman and Russ Housley. Technical Summary It is common practice on the Internet to permit anonymous access to various services. The anonymous mechanism of the Simple Authentication and Security Layer framework provides a way to request anonymous access to a network service and to provide trace information to that service. This document obseletes RFC 2245. Working Group Summary The SASL working group reached rough consensus on this mechanism. Protocol Quality The specification was reviewed for the IESG by Sam Hartman.
