The IESG has approved the following document:

- 'Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Extension for Event State Publication '
   <draft-ietf-sip-publish-04.txt> as a Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the Session Initiation Protocol Working
Group.

The IESG contact persons are Allison Mankin and Jon Peterson.

Technical Summary

This document describes an extension to the Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP) for publishing event state used within the SIP Events
framework. The first application of this extension is for the
   publication of presence information.

Working Group Summary

The work on this extension began in the SIMPLE working group,
because the requirements were generated in the context of
presence information. As a result, there was a great deal of review
of the serviceability of the extension, before it went to the SIP WG
for review of its generality and conformance to SIP guidelines.
There was some debate on architecture, but there was a strong
support for advancement of this document.

Protocol Quality

There have been many reviews of the specification, and it has been
   well managed by its editor.

Allison Mankin reviewed the specification for the IESG.
