To the IETF Community: The Internet Society (ISOC) Board of Trustees is considering several updates to the ISOC bylaws and welcomes input on the proposed changes from the IETF community. The changes are intended to clear up some confusing features of the current bylaws; take advantage of a change in the regulations concerning electronic voting in Washington, DC where the Society is incorporated; use more consistent terminology; and, correct a few typographical errors. The changes do not materially alter the intent of the existing bylaws. Of particular interest to the IETF community will be this change regarding IETF appointees to the ISOC board: Bylaws Change 2: Making vacancy processes consistent. This proposed change extends the same timeline for filling any vacancies among IETF appointees to the ISOC board, as is provided for trustees elected by ISOC's Chapters and Organizational Members.
