Title : REmote Sample and CApture Protocol (RESCAP)
Author(s) : F. Risso, D. Dutt
Filename : draft-risso-rescap-00.txt
Pages : 27
Date : 2003-2-27
This document details a configuration protocol that can be used to
capture and sample frames on a remote device. This protocol defines a
control connection, which is used to control the remote device, and a
data connection, which is used to transport back the sampled data.
This protocol includes has a set of optional parameters (e.g. custom
filters, etc) that allows customizing the behavior of the sampling
process. This protocol can be used also for packet capture and it
should be possible to implement it on both network devices (router
and switches) and workstation hosts.

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
