Well, brightness control in that thinkpad is supposed to be handled by the GPU drivers in x.org + kernel, not by thinkpad-acpi.

Have you tried asking other arch-linux users of the w530 or t530 in the linux-thinkpad mailing-list or the archlinux user lists/forums?
