Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E145, model 20BCA00RRT -- Unsupported brightness interface

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

ThinkPad E145 has A4-5000 APU with Radeon HD8330. I run Gentoo Linux.
I got working everything I want, except for brightness control.

Under kernel 3.12, brightness keys (Fn-F7/F8) do work with
acpi_backlight=vendor kernel option until first suspend (via
pm-suspend). No related acpi events in userspace, though.

Under kernels 3.13 and 3.14, brightness keys do work in POST screen,
and stop working right after boot or restore from hibernate.

I tried video.use_native_backlight, thinkpad-acpi.brightness_enable
and acpi_backlight in different combinations with no luck. They
changed the way the brightness interface appears in
/sys/class/backlight, acpi_video0 or thinkpad_screen, that's all. I
write values to /sys/class/backlight/*/brightness, I then read these
values from both brightness and actual_brightness, but screen
brightness doesn't change.

acpi_listen report keypresses:
video/brightnessdown BRTDN 00000087 00000000
video/brightnessup BRTUP 00000086 00000000

thinkpad-acpi reports about unsupported brightness interface.

I managed to gather some diagnostics. I uploaded it to pastebin:
  acpidump http://pastebin.com/6bdx7EAE
  dmesg http://pastebin.com/LERzAp46
  dmidecode http://pastebin.com/GpZ8Sx5Y
as well as 3.14 kernel config http://pastebin.com/D5j6PGaq

Any suggestions? Thanks!
