Oh forgot to address this. So we can. Just have to remove those machines in the kernel that OSI=Linux is exposed. I think if this work can trigger it so user can get an OSD showing the mute then it will all work out. So if this work gets all working all Thinkpads that are exposing OSI=Linux can be removed from the kernel and just wouldn't encourage use of it.
